KA1 VET - “The Italian Experience in Organic Agriculture and Agroecology” - Chepelare

"The Italian Experience in Organic Agriculture and Agroecology" project, part of the KA1 VET Erasmus+ Program, has been an enlightening venture for students from the Professional School for Agriculture and Forestry "Nicola Vaptsarov" in Chepelare, Bulgaria. This mini-article, brought to you by Associazione Most, captures the essence of their journey.

The students engaged in extensive group work, focusing on the human impact on the environment. This theoretical learning was complemented by practical work at the Garden Center Nursery in Dormelletto. Their dedication and hard work culminated in an exam, with each student proudly receiving a merit certificate. This accomplishment marks a significant milestone in their education, blending academic knowledge with hands-on experience.

An exciting element of their trip was a day spent in Milan. The students began their adventure with a morning view of the beautiful Ticino River, followed by a train journey from Sesto Calende to Milan. In Milan, they explored historical and cultural landmarks, including the Sforza Castle and the vast Sempione Park. Their guide shared intriguing stories, such as the tragic tale of an architect associated with the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. The visit to this iconic gallery, home to luxury brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, and Dior, was a highlight. The day reached its peak with a visit to the magnificent Milan Cathedral (Duomo di Milano), where they ascended to the rooftop, enjoying a breathtaking view of Milan.

This educational journey was not just about learning organic agriculture and agroecology; it was also about experiencing the culture and history of Italy. The students’ exploration of Milan offered a broader understanding of the environment in which they were studying, providing context to their agricultural education.

The project has been a blend of academic learning, practical skills, and cultural immersion, offering the students from Chepelare a comprehensive educational experience. As they return to Bulgaria, they bring back not just knowledge and skills in organic agriculture but also memories of the beauty and history of Italy, enriching their understanding of the global context of their studies.
