KA1 VET - “The Italian Experience in Organic Agriculture and Agroecology” - Yambol

Associazione Most is proud to share insights from the recent "The Italian Experience in Organic Agriculture and Agroecology" project with the Professional School for Agriculture “Hristo Botev” - Yambol, Bulgaria. This project not only provided an educational experience but also fostered a cultural exchange between Bulgarian and Italian students.

The Yambol group, comprising 15 eager students, embarked on a journey to explore and contribute to the Orti Amicigio in Dormelletto. Lucia Veleva and Alessandra Bonisoli from Associazione Most expertly orchestrated their stay, balancing interactive workshops, fieldwork, tourism, and leisure. This approach ensured that the students from Yambol gained hands-on experience while appreciating the beauty and agricultural practices of the Lago Maggiore region.

A significant highlight was the meeting with students from the Istituto Agrario di Cavallini in Lesa. Here, amidst orchards of persimmons, kiwis, apples, hazelnuts, and vineyards, the Yambol students were introduced to the proud history and the stewardship of Cavallini’s 45-hectare park. This visit was not just about sharing experiences but also about learning innovative agricultural practices. The Bulgarian students were particularly intrigued by the chilli pepper plant experiments in the chemistry lab, where altering 149 parameters could yield 100% productivity without compromising quality, thereby reducing costly and polluting transport.

Such interactions are pivotal in shaping the agriculturists of the future. The commitment and collaboration shown by the students of Yambol and Lesa are commendable. They represent a new generation of agriculturists who are not only equipped with the knowledge and skills to enhance productivity but are also conscious of sustainable practices. Their endeavours in the field of agroecology and organic agriculture are crucial in bringing about a change in how we view and interact with our environment.

Through this project, Associazione Most has once again bridged geographical and cultural divides, providing a platform for young minds to grow, collaborate, and innovate in the field of sustainable agriculture. The experience gained by the students from Yambol is a testament to the rich learning that such international collaborations offer. They return home with new skills, knowledge, and a renewed commitment to the future of agriculture, both in Bulgaria and globally.
